The aim of this investigation is to determine the nature of the local caserelations to be found in the Mycenaean texts and the forms by means of whichthese case relations are expressed. Though much work has already been done inthis field a reexamination of the relevant words and expressions in theircontexts may still be rewarding. To put the Mycenaean data in relief thelanguage of the Homeric epics will receive due attention and occasionally alsodialect inscriptions and postHomeric literary sources as need may be. «
