Count Robert of Paris condemned by Scotts printer as altogether a failurewas later prepared for publication by his soninlaw J. G. Lockhart and hispublisher Robert Cadell. What appeared was a bowdlerized tamed and tidiedversion of what Scott had written and dictated.
