Canadian Childrens Book Centre Our Choice 2009 It is spring in themountains of Alaska and a female Dalls sheep is born on the high cliffssheltered from predators and the worst of the blowing snow. The lamb has a weakleg but her heart is strong and she scrambles over the cliffs after hermother and seeks out the company of other lambs that have also settled in themountain meadow. Over the short summer months the lamb will need experience inrunning up the cliffs when grizzlies and other predators make their way to themeadow. Only then will she be safe from harm as she continues to grow toadulthood in the cold months ahead. «
