Debra Quakerneck, separated from her husband Anthony Thomas, works as a home care attendant for the elderly. She continues as normal as possible until, one day, her scheduled visit includes a woman named Mieke "Miko" Adams.
Miko shares her life lessons with Debra for a reward of four mysterious artifacts. There appears to be more to Miko than can be surmised, but Debra attributes it to the woman's loneliness. That afternoon, Debra’s life takes a drastic turn at a traffic light. Her days in a hospital now bring the harsh reality of her own isolation, but grant her the chance to face the insecurities keeping her from forgiveness.
Roles are reversed, and now Miko provides the company Debra desperately needs, delivering each loving tale of intuitive relevance with an artifact. With her guidance, Debra will discover strength, forgiveness, family and herself.
The Geisha Mask represents identity. Debra causes the death of a child and must learn to forgive in order to receive the same.
The Bamboo Stick represents overcoming human sensory. Faith and a monk's stick helped Miko's friend, Anne, escape a Japanese prisoner camp during WWII. Will it help Debra surpass the pains and heartaches in her life?
The Model Sailboat represents the historical Dutch and Japanese connection. An American-Japanese woman of English descent owns an art gallery in 1942 Soho, New York and becomes the key to Debra and Miko's lineage. Debra must travel to complete her own family circle, fulfilling the Buddhist concept of waters joining to form the sea.
The Ivory Buddha represents the surpassing of one's life into the next . . . overcoming death.
All Waters Gathering is a story of self-discovery, wisdom, and a bonding of kindred spirits. Identification is like the sea that declines no water no matter what its source.
